Amanda
Compassionate social worker with special needs experience
I am a professional social worker who enjoys helping individuals of all ages. I have a great deal of experience with individuals on the Autism spectrum, both personally and professionally, and am able to develop custom plans for helping these individuals succeed. M goals are to teach skills to students so that they will eventually be able to succeed without my assistance. Teaching basic skill building and independence is an important aspect of tutoring to me. I understand that everyone learns...
ADD/ADHD
I interned as a therapist this year and worked with many individuals with ADD/ADHD. I am familiar with how to help them succeed. I have also been a case manager for several years and have worked with families with individuals with this diagnosis so I have familiarity with how to help the parents provide consistency and structure as well.
Aspergers
I will be receiving my MSW in 18 days and have been working in the Disabilities Office creating a program for college students on the Autism spectrum all semester. I have a little brother on the spectrum and was a TSS for a 6 year old on the spectrum as well. I have also attended the National Autism Conference in Penn State the past 2 years. Aspergers is currently no longer a DSM diagnosis and now falls under Autism Spectrum disorder, so I'm listing the same qualifications :) I also interned as a therapist this year and treated several indvidiuals on the spectrum.
