I hired Jacob to help me with my application essays for various Ph. D programs. Jacob made the process enjoyable and effortless. Jacob is so authentic and empathetic I felt completely comfortable with him. When I was stuck on a prompt, he would simply ask me questions in a way that opened my mind. What truly helped me was the fact that Jacob was truly interested in what I had to say and, in fact, showed enthusiasm for my perspective and knowledge. This gave me the confidence I needed to express myself openly. Throughout all of our sessions, Jacob offered constant feedback so that I understood why it was important we make particular changes. I learned so much from Jacob that I feel as though I took an English composition course. Jacob clearly loves tutoring. Nobody can be that good at teaching without this being the case. His experience working individually with pupils is apparent. He used many different teaching styles. He was capable of speaking to me in several different ways depending upon what was needed and he always let me know how I seemed to be feeling. If I was acting insecure, he made sure to tell me and then managed to talk me out of it fairly easily. I really felt as though he understood me and I know that he cared about my work. As far as writing is concerned, Jacob is a magician. He would change one word or move some paragraphs around and the entire essay went from appearing mediocre to eloquent and professional. He is incredible fast at revision. I was always pleasantly surprised by the vast amount of proofing we completed in a single hour. One hour with Jacob is like three with hours working with someone else. Jacob is extremely responsible. He always responded to my calls and emails within 24 hours. He knew what my deadlines were for each project. He kept a journal of our progress and emailed me progress reports. I now feel confident regarding by candidacy for a doctorate program.

Jacob is a very relaxed and pleasant person. He quickly picked up areas my son needs help with and gave some concrete and organizational strategies for him to use.

Look no further because Jacob is the tutor for you. Before our sessions began, I anticipated the SAT with incredible anxiety. Jacob was very patient, and challenged me to a new understanding of the test. He left me with a plethora of new skills as well as the confidence I needed to succeed. Each week he sent me a list of all of the strategies we reviewed to help me with the next practice test. Over weeks my results improved exponentially. The lessons he taught me stretched beyond the SAT as well, I was able to become a more comprehensive reader, especially in AP English. Besides the educational value of Jacob's lessons, he was extremely amiable and easy going. He was the tutor that I looked forward to seeing every week, I even shared my gum with him.

My 14 year old son is a diagnosed Dyslexic with Central Auditory Processing Disorder. The school was not meeting all of his needs and we were watching our son, a normally happy, eager, confident child, struggle academically and emotionally. We really needed a tutor who could figure out the best way to help our son learn--some form of a multi-sensory, individualized approach. After the very first lesson, we saw a glimpse of our old kid. I'm happy to say that after a few months of lessons, Jacob's strategies have been a game changer. Our son's grades have vastly improved. His standardized assessment scores have gone up. He has regained his love of reading and most importantly, his confidence has returned. Jacob uses my son's hobbies and interests to teach him organization, reading and essay writing skills and study strategies. Our son is a work in progress but for the first time in a long time, he is happy, enjoying school again and is much more independent. We see him building on skills for the future. Thanks Jacob!
