Let's face it, teenagers do not want to study for the ACT and few have the discipline to do it alone. With Ayanaw's help, my son learned more in three weeks of tutoring than he had in the two months prior when he was supposed to be studying on his own. Ayanaw is very knowledgeable and patient but really challenged my son with a fast pace. The pace was necessary because my son, a junior, took algebra and geometry and is in honors calculus now. He somehow skipped trigonometry, so he had to learn as much as he could in three weeks. I'm 100% confident that the three-weeks of lessons increased his math score at least two or three points. My son did not want a tutor, but he just took the ACT today, and he completed all 60 questions in 60 minutes. He was calm and decisive, and Ayanaw was instrumental in that.

Ayanaw was a wonderful tutor. I was tutored for the Praxis ii math content test and his knowledge of ALL things math was enormously impressive. He was amazing at explaining even the most obscure and remote concepts and would explain as many times or in as many different ways as I needed to be able to understand. I had been studying for the GRE on my own for a few months when I found Ayanaw on the WyzAnt website. I had not studied math since high school and was feeling very rusty and overwhelmed by the math on the GRE. Although the math concepts were not particularly difficult, the way they were presented and the time constraint was resulting in my scoring very low on my math practice sections. In fact, in the last full-length practice test I took before beginning working with Ayanaw, I scored in the 40th percentile in math! I was very displeased with this result and nervous about the test. I met with Ayanaw about seven times in the month before taking the GRE. He was patient, kind, and a good listener. I would come to our tutoring sessions with a clear idea of what I wanted to cover that day, and we would work together to tackle that concept. He would bring materials of his own and we would work through them together. Other times, I would do a practice section for homework and we would then meet to review it. He would always have prepared by reviewing the practice section on his own time before meeting me, so that he was familiar with the problems that I had been working on. Other times we would do timed practice sections together, pausing for clarification if needed, and reviewing them together at the end. Thus, our tutoring sessions took a few different forms as I prepared to take the GRE, but his presence, patience, and encouragement remained constant. As I prepared to take the GRE, he was enthusiastic and encouraging until the very last day. I took the GRE last week and vastly improved my scores. My math score improved from the 40th percentile to the 75th percentile! That is a HUGE improvement and I am absolutely thrilled! I can say with complete confidence that I would not have been able to do it without Ayanaw! He helped me so much throughout this process, and we even had a fun time! More than anything else, it was immensely helpful to have what felt like an ally in this process. When working with Ayanaw, I no longer felt like I was going through the GRE process alone, but rather that I had a comrade and support system. My experience with this tutor has been more than I had a right to expect. He tutored my son during the summer and the results have been amazing. My son is scheduled for AP Calculus at the start of the school year and his grasp of pre-calculus was not at a level that I felt comfortable. Seems that we will be ending the school year with an A or at worst a B in Algebra 1, thank you Ayanaw! Ayanaw is doing a wonderful job with our daughter. She is bubbly and happy again, just feeling that she can learn the material was the first step. She is very focused during the tutoring and really enjoys her time with Ayanaw. He is patient and keeps her on track while taking aim at her foundational weaknesses. The only reason that today's (12/14/2012) session received a 4 instead of a 5 is that the background noise (a choir singing Christmas songs) was pretty loud and distracting. Ayanaw was his clear, patient, knowledgeable self ie. very very good. There are some sessions without ratings and that is totally my fault. I just didn't get around to filling out the evaluation in time. Ayanaw is a great tutor, my daughter is always happy to head off to tutoring. My sophomore was struggling with Algebra II at an Academy School District 20 high school. The high school she attends uses an online curriculum that is a confusing instructional tool.
