Steven S. tutored my 6-yr old grandson once per week for approximately 6-months. His report card showed failing grades in math but after about 5 tutoring sessions he started to show improvement. Within the first few minutes of the first session my grandson and Steven were like best buddies and immediately related exceptionally well. Steven is a very easy going person who instinctively makes the student feel relaxed and makes him ready for an enriched learning experience. My grandson always looked forward to his tutoring visits and to the last few minutes of playtime with his beloved monster trucks to which Steven entertained without question. I definitely recommend Steven to anyone finding a need for math tutoring. Steven is a very, very honest and trustworthy person. His rates are very reasonable and always had the courtesy to text us his approximate time of arrival. My grandson is now receiving all A's and two B's in his report card. It is noteworthy to state that I had initially looked for a math tutor but in reality Steven helped my grandson with all his classes as his self esteem soared and is now happy and doing very well. We have had 4 tutoring sessions so far with Steve, and he is nothing short of amazing. He obviously loves to tutor, and it shows. Steve is an amazing person to work with my child! My son has many mental and physical issues to overcome on a daily basis and Steve has incredible patience and skills working with him. My 6 year old had his tonsils and adenoids removed on 4/30 and has not been to school since. He was given almost 100 worksheets to do for the 2 weeks he is out of school and between myself and Steve we have knocked out more than 75% in 2 days. It took my son this long to even be back to himself enough to do anything, let alone school work. I am EXTREMELY happy that I interviewed several tutors before choosing him. I was torn between him and one other and after our first conversation, I felt that he had more knowledge and patience that I knew my boy would need. He makes the time with him fun so my son stays focused, even when his meds wear off after school hours. He is also very ENCOURAGING and shows my son extra praise with good work. He is always complimenting him and making him feel good about what they accomplished that day. He also keeps me involved in the daily activities and successes. I am not just leaving them in a room together to work, I am there with them, learning the ways to teach my son also for when Steve is not here. I appreciate that he takes the time to keep me knowledgeable about the level of what a first grader would be at. I was teaching things to my child that were way too far advanced for him. Steve is available to answer as many questions as I may have. He never rushes me or makes me feel like I am bothering him by asking additional questions on 1st grade work. I would like to say thank you again (even though I thank Steve every time I speak to him), but I am very impressed with him, his skills, and his knowledge of my child's needs and I feel GREAT knowing that he is there to back me up with any extra help my lil one needs!
