Experienced Tutor Grades 3 thru College

Hello, and thank you for reading my profile. I am currently working as a substitute teacher, and I am a retired educational diagnostician. You may ask, "What is a diagnostician?" A diagnostician is the person, along with the school psychologist, that tests students (IQ and achievement, usually) for eligibility for special education services. It is a great skill because I am fortunate enough to be able to help students reach their maximum potential, regardless of any disabilities they ma...

dyslexia

autism

My familiarity with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder has been developed not only from experience (I have both taught and worked with students), but also from my studies (I have a master's degree in special education), as well as assessments as a certified educational diagnostician. I have found that each student is unique and, especially with the variability of Autism in each student's case (e.g., severity, level of functioning, etc.) there must be a concerted effort by both parents and educators to find what strategy/ies will lead to successful learning for that particular student. I enjoy that challenge, and I welcome the opportunity to help in any way I can.

Aspergers

My familiarity with students with Aspergers syndrome is not only from experience (I have both taught and worked with students), but also from my studies (I have a master's degree in special education), as well as assessments as a certified educational diagnostician. I have found that all students are unique and need individual attention to their needs for successful learning to take place. I enjoy the challenge of finding what works with each student, and I welcome the opportunity to help in any way I can.

ADD/ADHD

My background and experience as a dianostician has helped me become an effective educator for students who are struggling with attention and distractibility issues. There are a number of proven techniques that have come into wide usage that I have embraced over the years. Although each student is unique in his/her needs, please know that there are ways for all students to overcome obstacles to their learning.

Bill was very patient with our daughter who was having difficulty in math. He was on time, and worked with us on scheduling. Our daughter's math grades improved immediately. Our only regret is that we didn't contact him earlier in the school year. Would definitely recommend Bill to anyone looking for a reliable, proficient tutor.

Bill was a great tutor for my son. He met with him weekly for about two months and I've seen confidence in my son in all of his classes, not just English. Thank you!

Janeen O. from Weatherford, TX

We hired Bill for SAT Math tutoring for my son - H.S. senior. He really liked Bill, his personality, his humor and worked very well with him. We had 3 sessions with Bill in one week (even though it was a bit of a drive for Bill) and taught my son the strategies and "tricks" of the SAT Math. My son felt much more confident in taking the SAT for the 2nd time after working with Bill. He raised his math section score by 70 points!

Andrea B. from Spring, TX

Bill has been working with my son for about 2 months and there has been a huge improvement in his organization and grades. Bill understands ADHD and what my son needs and has been very helpful in helping turning a poor semester into a much better one.

Kim M. from Magnolia, TX

Bill has been awesome for my son this summer. My son has ADHD, Dyslexia and Dysgraphia and Bill has been wonderful. My son has come farther with Bill than I ever expected. Bill is easy to work with on the schedule and truly cares about my son's performance. Bill is continuing with us even through the school year. He gives me honest feedback after each session and calls me if there are things we need to address sooner. I would and have recommended Bill to my friends.

Shelley R. from Katy, TX

Bill is an awesome tutor for my grandson. He establishes a caring and interested relationship with students from the beginning. My Grandson feels safe to learn and work with Mr Bill. This is essential and helps him be receptive to the lesson. I know this year Wyatt will have much more confidence in math!
