I studied linguistics and teaching at Hirosaki Gakuin College and graduated with a teaching certificate. I then spent three years teaching at junior high schools in Aomori prefecture in Japan. After moving to the United States I began teaching and tutoring at a Japanese language school where I continue to teach today.
