I am looking forward to helping students reach their full potential and perhaps learn a little something myself along the way. I believe students can learn a lot from good teachers, but I think GREAT teachers learn from their students as well. One thing I have learned in my nearly 30 years of working with children is that learning happens whether we want it to or not. Every day provides us with an abundance of learning opportunities and the more we take advantage of those opportunities the...

ADD/ADHD
I was a foster parent for 7 years, and as such, have completed numerous training sessions on recognizing and addressing ADHD issues in various settings. My adopted son is 23 and we've dealt with ADHD issues through homeschooling. I've worked with children who are medicated as well as those who are not. Each child is different and may require teaching adjustments to reach his or her full potential.

I needed help with building a resume and with writing a paper. I was able to learn some new things about MS Word as well as APA formatting in just an hour. It will make writing future papers much easier. Shonna helped me complete my resume and got me on the right track for finishing my paper on my own. She also offered to take a look at my final paper for me to see if I needed another session or if it was ready to turn in...for FREE. Helpful, patient, a great teacher!

Shonna is a great tutor for my 3rd grade son! She is patient and works well with him. She has creative ideas and games to get him excited to learn and read better! It is clear that she has lots of experience and enjoys what she does.

Shonna is very patient and her passion of teaching is uplifting. The techniques she uses are very easy to understand each step of the writing process. After one session, I found it much easier to write the thesis statement and build a paper that keeps the reader's interest. I will definitely use her services again in the future.

I got an A on my paper that I received help with and I understand the writing process much better. I will definitely use Shonna again if I need further help. I liked that she taught me techniques that I can work on for myself. Instead of just helping me write one paper she helped me learn a process that will help with future paper writing as well.

This was our first day and she was very thorough as she got to know my son. She made him feel at ease. He liked how she chose a reading assignment that was compatible with his interests.

We have only had one session so far but I'm already sure that she is just what my daughter needs. She is great with her and keeps my daughters full attention the whole time. She asked me my goals for the tutoring and took them into consideration when deciding how to help my daughter. I really recommend her.
