I can SOLVE a huge problem for you!
Hi, I am Mike. I am a results-oriented and compassionate teacher with 7 years of experience in Algebra 1 & 2. I have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and am a thesis shy of a master’s degree in electrical engineering with 9 years of experience in engineering and project management. My journey toward education started with my calculus professor in college who impacted and inspired me to develop a passion for mathematics; this passion compelled me to take a sabbatical from engin...

ADD/ADHD
During the Summer of 2010, I personally tutored a college student who was taking Organic Chemistry 1 & 2, both for the second time. She had an ADHD, in which her attention span was no more than 15 minutes. She utilized her Blackberry in class, sending texts or internet surfing, as a coping mechanism to withstand the 2-hour lecture, 4 days a week. It was a torture for her but desire to attend Optometry School was stronger than her current situation. Therefore I developed a 15-minutes On & 5-minute Off tutoring session. During her 5-minute break she texted. She earned As in both classes and informed me that she never earned a grade higher than a B in any of her Chemistry classes, let alone Organic Chemistry. If your desire is strong enough, then the facts don't count!

anatomy
Anatomy is very fresh in my mind. I've earned the highest grade in my Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2 class during summer 2012. How did I do that with basic knowledge of biological science? I have a system of studying for classes that require memorizing high volumes of information in a short period of time and will help you apply that skill on our first tutoring session.
ASVAB
As a military brat, I wanted to serve my country for at least four years after high school. Scoring 98th percentile overall on ASVAB, I was ready to choose my MOS and get started, but, my high school counselor helped me to earn a full scholarship to attend college. If you desire to score high on your ASVAB test, I can help you. I have a system for successfully passing standardized multiple choice tests. Contact me.

organic chemistry
In the Summer 2010, I took Organic Chemistry 1 & 2 with labs and earned an A in both classes. As an engineer, I developed a systems-approach to tackling any subject, especially Organic Chemistry. I proved the system and had two of my study group members to follow the identical system. At the end of the summer session, we all earned the highest grades in the class of 40 students. The two study group members continued to implement the system in their studies in Pre-Dental curriculum; both graduated with high-honors and are now third-year dental students at UT-Houston Dental School. I can help you succeed in Organic Chemistry!

Michael is a great tutor and is very knowledgeable, articulate and organized. He tutored my son in Algebra. My son did not want to go to school because he was struggling in Algebra. After my son's first session with Michael, he had a much more positive attitude about getting better with his Algebra. Michael and I discussed how each session went and what needed to be completed at the next one. He arrived for each session prepared with relevant materials and lesson plans. He is able to simplify and organize the material which helped my son feel comfortable, competent and confident. We are so happy that Michael worked with us and will not hesitate to call him for tutoring, if needed in the future. Best tutor!!!

Michael is a great tutor and has put a plan of action for my son in preparing for the SAT exam. I was very impressed with how prepared he was for the session and with his strategic plan to meet my son's testing goal.

I am getting ready for "The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery" (ASVAB) and so far I've learn in two sessions what I haven't been able to learn in years. Mike S has a way to teach each person differently. I've always had problems with anything that has to do with numbers and now that I want to join the Navy I really need to get good at it to be able to score 80% or more and be able to chose the MOS I want. I've been tutored before and it didn't work, I was starting to think that I would have to settle for any MOS (job) in the military because I would never get good enough at math, arithmetic reasoning and algebra but Mr S has a very peculiar way of teaching you and it really works. He understands 100% that we all learn in different ways and at different pace and he makes sure he doesn't leave until you understand it. I strongly recommend you to take tutoring sessions with him specially if you have ADD/ADHD. He is very professional, always on time and a very understanding person.

I feel very blessed to have found Mike! Not only is he a great math tutor but he is also helping to build my son's "math confidence". Always shows up on time and ready to work!
