I have worked as a reading tutor for many years, having been certified in the Read Right program. I have worked with adult students seeking their GED certificate, ESL learners, teenagers seeking their GED certificate, and elementary students who are lagging in their reading. My husband and I have a 8 yr old son who unfortunately has had problems with his reading. We have tried after school programs and have never really seen much improvement. So we decided to try private tutoring. We met Stacey for our first meeting and she made us feel at ease. She gave our son an evaluation and then proceeded to show us an example on how she would approach our son with his reading. We have been taking our son to Stacey's home now for about a month for 2 lessons a week. We have seen more improvement in this month alone and are very grateful. This was my first time trying to hire a tutor off of a Google search but I have to say that I am delighted with Stacey D. She comes with a wealth of experience in the Read Right program as well as identifying potential causes of problems in reading fluency, comprehension, and processing. After one session, I already noticed my daughter more actively engaged in reading and putting more expression and fluency into her reading cadence. My daughter has ADHD and by the time Stacey comes, my daughter's meds have worn off and yet, my daughter can stay on task with Stacey and does not whine or complain (like she does with her mom...unfortunately). We are really looking forward to how far Stacey can take our daughter over the next months as she tries to catch up with her grade level in reading. Stacey is helping my daughter in the reading area. My daughter has improved a lot, she used to hate to read and now she is loving it, she got really excited when we arrived at the public library to checkout books.
