Ellen has been working with our son for about a month now. We are so happy with the results so far! She did a good assessment of his reading at the first session, and decided on what reading method to use with him. She is patient, kind and affirming. Our son had an instant boost in overall confidence after just the first session ("Miss Ellen is going to help me." "She doesn't make me feel like I'm wrong.") Since then, he has made noticeable improvement in his spelling, after only a few sessions (his writing has progressed from incomprehensible to comprehensible, even if still not spelling all words correctly). He is also more confident in his reading and willing to take risks as he reads. Ellen takes a few minutes after each session to review the lesson with me. She writes up weekly progress reports on the web site, which I can then share with our son's teacher. She is responsive to emails. We are very happy and look forward to our son's ongoing progress!
