As part of my SLP coursework, I have formal academic training in Autism Spectrum Disorders and have worked with a range of low functioning and high functioning students in public school, private school and private clinic settings. I have attended Michelle Garcia Winner's Social thinking conference and am trained in the ILAUGH model and informal dynamic social assessment and treatment strategies. I also worked for a year with nonverbal preschoolers with autism and taught them to use AAC devices and picture exchange to communicate. With older students on the spectrum, I have helped facilitate social language groups to teach conversational and pragmatic skills.
