UPDATE: My daughter has now had multiple lessons with Julia and this has been a godsend. Her confidence level has gone way up and she is learning some specifics, such as the difference between por and para, muy and mucho, that apparently make a huge difference. The teacher noted this in class. These are things that weren't taught or clear in class, but she has learned from Julia. They reviewed writing in Spanish before the writing PALS so that she was prepared for that and last night practiced several speaking PALS so that she was prepared for that as well. They work on Skype which is really convenient. Really happy we found Julia! Additional Update: The school year has ended and I need to glow about Julia! My daughter got her final grade in Spanish and it was an A!!! Yahoo! It's very clear that without Julia she wouldn't have gotten an A. It would have been a B or B+, no question. The tutoring sessions gave her the additional clarification on details, especially the verbs, that she needed and apparently just wasn't getting in class alone. Most importantly, her confidence level went way up. She was able to get that additional practice with speaking, writing and listening that she needed for class and her testing. She is going into Spanish 3 with a lot of enthusiasm that she can do it. We are continuing the tutoring during the summer and Julia is even setting up a site for additional practice before the actual tutoring sessions. This is going to allow my daughter to not only maintain what she has learned but to get a heads up for next year. So happy with this great find!

I currently have tutoring sessions with Julia via Skype. Skype has been an excellent way for me to work around my busy schedule. Julia works with your schedule and is very prompt to answer any questions or concerns. As far as teaching, she first starts off by determining your proficiency level and goes from there. She doesn't just throw grammar at you. She works with who you are and your goals. In fact, sometimes, I find myself just conversing with her about my day or weekend because she is so affable and willing to get to know me. I am very pleased at how much I've learned. She is really passionate about teaching me Spanish, and she is very prepared for the class. She even asks me to send her my notes, homework, quizzes, and tests, so that we work on them together during the lesson. On the other hand, she is not good at English; it's really hard to communicate with her if you are native Spanish speaker. She is a really good tutor who can teach you well if you can communicate well with her in Spanish, but not English.
