Li-Feng
Mandarin/Art Tutoring
Hi! My Chinese name is Li-Feng. You can call me Phoenix. I am a native Mandarin (Chinese) speaker from Taiwan. In 1988, I graduated from Ming Chuan College and my major was International Trade. I worked in the international trade business for more than 10 years when I was in Taiwan. In 1999, I received my B.A.degree in Applied English, from the first American-accredited University in Asia, Ming Chuan University, in Taiwan. I have four years of experience tutoring young kids and adults in T...

Li-Feng (Phoenix) is a great, fun tutor. She is very friendly, organized, and easy to communicate with. I take lessons with her over Skype. This is great solution for me because it was very hard to find a tutor in the area at an affordable price and good availability. I, personally, do not feel that the quality of the lesson diminishes because it is conducted over Skype. All you need is a good camera and a fast enough internet connection! The lessons are structured around textbooks which makes them easy to follow and also study on your own. I enjoy my lessons with Phoenix and I feel like I am learning a lot at a pace that is right for me.

Li is very patient and teaches the Mandarin language at a pace that a student will understand as they proceed through each lesson. Her lesson plans accompanied by CDs are great. She is responsive to emails as needed.

I am a beginner, and I have had only two Skype lessons with Li-Feng. She got me started quickly by sending me links to textbook pages before we met for the first lesson. I plan to take more lessons due to her patience, enthusiasm, and willingness to answer my questions about Chinese culture as well as language. During the first lesson she seemed a bit nervous and preferred to give explanations rather than push me to repeat the Chinese phrases. Both characteristics were improved already in the second lesson.

Wonderful teacher! She relates English (my first language) to Chinese (the language I am learning), which makes learning the lessons very easy to understand and connect how we speak English to learning and speaking Chinese. I am excelling very quickly with Phoenix (Li-Feng) teaching me.

I travel for work and can't always meet in person with a tutor, but I've studied Chinese for several years and didn't want to lose my proficiency. I was glad to have the opportunity to meet with Phoenix (Li-Feng) over Skype. She's very accommodating to different schedules. It's clear that Phoenix is an excellent resource for new students. She is both patient and encouraging and excited to share Chinese culture with her students.

We moved back to the US from Asia this past summer and really wanted our daughter to keep up her Mandarin. We struggled to find a tutor with a flexible schedule and someone in our neighborhood. We searched on WyzAnt and found Li-Feng. My daughter (14) has really enjoyed working with her and the fact that they can do their lessons via SKYPE means we don't have to worry about commuting back and forth! I highly recommend Li-Feng.

Li-Feng was sympathetic and willing to flex with the time it took to prepare for 3 papers and review for my college Mandarin final. All of this was critical to commencement -- just three weeks away!

I was hesitant at first about learning through Skype but it is like anything else you just have to be consistent and diligent. Skype is effective and so is Li-Feng. We are learning at an acceptable pace.

She is an excellent teacher. She has been very patient with me as I learn how to pronounce the words correctly.I am glad I found her.
