Heather

Experienced Math and English Tutor

I love teaching. More specifically, I love being part of someone's discovery that math isn't really a foreign language and that writing doesn't have to be a torturous process. Learning can be fun, and I enjoy seeing the satisfaction, confidence, and wonder that comes with understanding and success. I have been passionate about education my whole life. I taught my siblings through project-based learning in a make-shift summer classroom as a kid, took education classes in high school and colle...

We are so happy to have found Heather! She has a great balance of knowing how to explain things and not overwhelm at the same time. We are using her for SAT test prep and pre-cal homework and she's been wonderful. We'll continue to use her as needed!

Algebra 2 - various topics. She moved quickly when appropriate but slowed to explain patiently when necessary. We are working towards passing a comprehensive subject test.

Heather is a fantastic, dependable tutor. She prepared individual material for my son. My son responded very well to her organized manner. Each appointment was established, confirmed and she provided me with a summary. She responded quickly. I highly recommend her.

Heather relates very well to my daughter, a middle-schooler who hates and lacks confidence in math, and creates an environment where she feels comfortable asking questions or admitting that she doesn't understand. The sessions are relaxed and have been very helpful.

Heather is amazing!!! My daughter needed help with her 7th grade Algebra and Heather responded right away. She made room in her schedule for my daughter so that she could understand some concepts she was struggling with. Sage is a bit shy but felt very comfortable around Heather. She learned a lot in an hour and has a good grasp on the concepts she was struggling with in order to complete her homework. We plan on meeting with Heather regularly to help Sage with her struggles. I am also mentioned to her that I was having some problems with my college course around statistics. She welcomed the opportunity to help me too. In fact, she took the time to consult with me a bit about my issues to get a better understanding of what context I was using statistics to better help me when we meet. I highly recommend Heather to anyone that needs a bit more help understanding concepts. She is friendly, polite, genuine, and very smart! I can't thank her enough for helping us out on such quick notice!

Heather and I worked together weekly to help improve my math skills for the SAT. She was very helpful working through problems and explained things in a way that was very easy for me to understand. She was always happy to slow down when I didn't understand a topic or concept. I went into the SAT feeling much more confident in my math skills, and it's all thanks to Heather!
