In my thirty-five years of teaching, I have worked with students from first to twelfth grade, but more than half of that time has been spent with secondary students. My focus is reading/literature, writing (both creative and formal styles), drama and speech, and I am an "encouraging critic" of English skills who eventually teaches students to critique and correct their own work. Drama is my passion, and I have taught high school drama for over 25 years. I also work with children's musicals at church. All in all, I have directed more than 70 plays: one acts, dinner theater musical revues, and full-length works such as Arsenic and Old Lace, The Princess Bride, and Shrew (a musical version of The Tempest). I start with the basics of movement,voice and imagination.Then I move into character development and special drama problems, such as accents.
