ADD/ADHD

In college I had a very good friend who suffered from ADD and ADHD. In my friendship with her I learned quite a bit about this disorder, such as that these people need help and care and treatment. While I have not tutored per se, my friendship with this woman taught me quite a bit about this disorder and I am willing to help children learn to cope with this and also have suggestions on how to help the poor concentration aspect of ADD/ADHD.

Aspergers

Several of my family members have had issues with Aspergers syndrome, namely my father and my cousin, and as a child I expressed some of these traits myself. With interacting with other children and professional therapy I learned to overcome the social awkwardness of this disorder while still retaining the positive aspects of this widely misunderstood diagnosis. I have worked with a high functioning autistic child during the time I was employed at a daycare. I desire to help both children diagnosed with this disorder and their parents to understand that it is not something that means their child cannot have a normal life or be part of society and also encourage these children to learn social skills to interact with others but to still pursue their special, intense interest or interests that come with this diagnosis.
